 ~ MAKING YOUR FIRST  BLOG ~

Open a Browser and go to:    www.wordpress.com   This is a FREE Blog site and easy to use.

Another one you could use is:  www.blogspot.com  but you have to open a Google Account if you don’t have one of those, so we will start with  WordPress.com.

Once at the site,  click on  “SIGN UP”  You have a page to type in a Username,  Password and e-mail address.     -    Continue

Next page is for your blog Domain Name and Title.  The name you choose for the Title  will be the heading of your entire Blog so choose wisely although you can change it any time.  The language will be English – by default and the Privacy option ticked so that your Blog will appear in the Search Engines, curtesy of Word Press.

Once you fill in that page,  Your Blog is Created and is now  LIVE  on the Internet.  It couldn’t be simpler.

You may now log in and keep your log in details (Username & Password) secure so that you can gain access at any time.

Once you are logged in, you will be at the Control Page or  ‘DASHBOARD’.  There are many settings here.  Firstly I am going to take you through the process of chosing a color scheme and layout for your New Blog.

Click on  “PRESENTATION” at the top.   This will give you a selection of  61  Color schemes to choose from.  You may click on as many as you like and they will open full page.  View a few of them until you decide which one you like the best.  When you decide, click on the  “ACTIVATE THIS THEME”  at the top right side of the window and your Blog will be set.  Click on  “VIEW SITE” at the top and you will see it for yourself   ~  Bootiful.  If you don’t like it, click on   “DASHBOARD”  at the top and again and go through this last  paragraph again and just swap it.

Now to delete the  ‘Hello World’ message that is there as an example.  Locate the word  edit  underneath the title and you can then scroll down the page and  Delete that item.

You now have a clean page to begin your Blogging Career.

Go to  “DASHBOARD”  at the top and click.  On your Control Page – Dashboard,  it will say:

Welcome to WordPress.com

Use these links to get started:

Write a post    Add a bookmark    Posts     Comments

Click on  Write a Post. 

There is your Window for your message.  Try this message to start with.  Just paste and copy this into your main window.

Give it a Title too.  How about:-  Welcome to My New Blog

While you have that page open, look at the top right column.   “CATEGORIES”

You can type in headings that you want your posts to be listed under.  Type in those headings  eg  E4L.BIZ (Click ADD),  NEWS  (Click ADD),  Recognition (Click ADD),  Trainings (Click ADD).  These are just suggestions and again you can alter or add many more as you wish.  This is all just to set up your page.  You don’t have to do all of this every time you write a post.

As you write a post, you can tick the category you want it to be stored in so it is easily found by your readers.

Under the window where you have written your post, you can add   “TAGS.”  These are Keywords which a reader might type in to be guided to your page by the search engines.   Here is a list of appropriate keywords for an   E4L  type posting that might help.   You can put more in or change them as you wish and separate each word or phrase with a comma.

E4L, entertainment, dvd, cd, video game, mlm, wholesale, work at home, work from home, home biz, home based business, stay at home mom, business opportunity, dvd club

As soon as all of that set up is complete, you can click on   “PUBLISH”  to do just that.   Publish your posting on to your Blog.  Then click on  “VIEW SITE”  on the top banner and your Brand new Blog will appear.  YAY!!  Well done.  Success!

If there’s something wrong and you’re not happy, simply click on  “EDIT”  beneath the item and you can go back in and change things.  I always think it is a great idea to write your posting into an e-mail first.  Then you can change the fonts, Colors, centering easily, and then paste it into the Blog window complete.  It makes it much more attractive to design the posting and do the tweaking in an e-mail that you are more used to.
